Stable metal oxides non-soluble in acidic mediumhas been prepared and characterized. The influence ofmetal oxide (MOx) type on the activity of Pt towards ethylene glycol oxidation in acidic mediumhas been examined. Allmodified Pt/MOx/glassy carbon (GC) electrodes exhibited a better activity compared to polycrystalline Pt.While Pt/SnO2/GC electrode produced the highest oxidation current, Pt/CeO2/GC exhibited the best tolerance against poisoning process.
