Spectrophotometric Determination of Famciclovir In Pharmaceutical Preparations

A simple, sensitive and highly accurate UV spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of famiclovir in bulk and tablet dosage form. The proposed method was based on the the charge transfer reactions of famiclovir as n-electron donor with acceptor, 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone. The absorbance of the highly intensive coloured solution was measured at 415 nm against reagent blank treated similarly The method was validated by determining its sensitivity, accuracy and precision, which proves suitability of the developed method for the routine estimation of famiclovir in bulk and solid dosage form
