Synthesis of Novel Azole Heterocycles with their Antitubercular and Antifungal Evaluation
Pratibha S. Gavarkar and Rakesh R. Somani
Azoles exhibits wide range of pharmacological properties. A limited number of drugs are currently available to treat microbial infections that too have serious toxic effects the existing drugs has been suffering from the development of resistance and thus newer drugs are required with better activity profile. In the present investigation, some 2, 5-disubstituted-1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives and a triazole derivative derived from 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid were synthesized and subjected to antitubercular and antifungal activity. The structures of targeted compounds were confirmed by spectroscopic techniques like 1 H NMR and mass spectroscopy. Compound 5b exhibited best antifungal activity while compound 5d was found active against mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv.
